Abstract

Prayer is a basic form of worship in Islam that is performed in two ways, first individually and the other collectively in Jamat. In early Islam, when Islam was in its infancy, women were allowed to attend congregational prayers under certain basic conditions. But the blessed intention of the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was that women should offer prayers at home and encourage him to do so. When fitna began to take place during caliphate of Hazrat Umar Farooq (May Allah be pleased with him), he banned women from entering mosques with the consensus of the companions. Authoritative scholars from the time of Farooqi to the present day agree that it is haraam, makrooh and unlawful for women to go to mosques for prayers. and encouraging women to come to mosques and offer prayers in time of turmoil and turmoil is nothing but misguidance.
