Abstract

Ijma has a mamoth  place in shariah after quran and hadith. It is an authentic and third source of islam.  The reverence and place which ijma has obtained is because of Quran and Hadith . the saying of Quran explicite says to obey the intellectuals and there is strickt statement for those who will disobey them. For such class of intellects the holy Prophet has said that my umma can not give consent for wrong and unauthentic way. Similarly, The Prophet Muhammad alayhi  sallam explained that there will be a class in my ummah who will be beneficial for everyone. The pluralistic class shows the importance of ijma and all such Hadith shows that ijma has a clear way in Islam.  an initio, ijma was initiated by the pious  khulafa e rashideen who are thought to be a leaders for umma .  therefor , ijma of sahaba, ijma of Madina and ijma of letter class, all have enormous and different place . even  ijma is conducted in the light of holy quran and hadith but it is an independent argument. these are sayings of Quran, hadith and ulma on this article.
