Abstract

Aleem-ul-Haq Haqqi was born on 21st May 1950 in a notable family of Karachi. His father migrated from Utter Pradesh, (India) to Karachi after Partition. He served in various government & non-government organizations but eventually in 1967 took to novels writing and produced many famous novels. Initially his novels were published in various Urdu journals and Digests and later appeared in book form. “Gharonda” is his famous religious novel which exposes the Christians missionary work and also the strong reaction to it by Muslim scholars and community. A Christion mercenary “Helen” and Muslim youth “Majid” get married after a love affair but their marriage fails. They both parted ways & marries elsewhere. Helan after research & study converts to Islam and brings environment whereas Majid’s children become a part of materialistic & selfish community.
